Jafar Golzarian, MD, FSIR, Professor of Radiology
Dr. Jafar Golzarian graduated magna cum laude from the University of Brussels School of Medicine in Brussels, Belgium. He completed his radiology residency at Erasme Hospital, University of Brussels School of Medicine, and then completed his fellowship training in interventional radiology at the same hospital. He is board-certified in interventional radiology and licensed in Minnesota to practice medicine.
He is a professor of interventional radiology at the University of Minnesota Medical School, where he became one of the first doctors in the United States to perform uterine fibroid embolization (UFE). He is a key opinion leader in the field of Interventional Radiology. He is also the founder and course director of major meetings in the field including Global Embolization Symposium and Technologies (GEST) and has authored more than 170 papers and more than 400 national and international lectures. He is also a leader on additional research efforts on reproductive outcomes after uterine fibroid embolization.
Amin Astani, MD, MBA
Dr. Amin Astani is a distinguished graduate of the University of Minnesota Medical School. Following his graduation, Dr. Astani completed his diagnostic radiology residency at the Henry Ford Hospital/Wayne State University, followed by a fellowship in vascular and interventional radiology at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, MI. Serving as Chairman of Radiology in multiple Chicago hospitals.
Dr. Astani’s expertise encompasses a wide range, including extensive experience with uterine fibroid embolization. Known for his kindness and patient-friendly approach, Dr. Astani isn’t just a go-to physician for excellence in minimally invasive procedures; he’s a dedicated partner in your healthcare journey. His remarkable ability to remain calm and compassionate, even in the most challenging cases, sets him apart, ensuring that a visit to Dr. Astani is not merely a medical appointment but a reassuring and comforting experience.
Kayla Halleron, PA-C
Kayla is a Physician Assistant with more than 10 years of experience caring for patients. She is a member of the Minnesota Academy of PAs, the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Mary in North Dakota and her Masters in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of South Dakota. In addition to interventional radiology, she has worked in pulmonology and sleep medicine as well as in the urgent care fields.
Kayla is passionate about patient education. It’s always been her goal to partner with patients to help them make the best decisions about their health. She is an avid Minnesota Vikings fan, loves travelling, hiking, and enjoys spending time with her husband, family and friends.
